NATALIE ALLEYNE

Alleyne (known artistically by her last name), has always held a keen interest in art – “since the womb” if you ask her. Painting and drawing were avid pastimes of her youth, so it was a natural progression for her to major in art in high school, and then college.

Alleyne graduated from the School of Visual Arts in New York City in 1981, where she received her BFA in Advertising and Graphic Design. As a freelance artist, she traveled frequently which landed her a job on the island of St. Maarten in the Caribbean, as a graphic designer. It was St. Marten, with its rich vibrant culture filled with color and texture that imbued her art and influenced the direction for her to become a fine artist.

Considering herself a ‘colorist’, Alleyne’s work is always sparked by vibrant hues, no matter the content. Faces and trees frequent her canvases with the artistic license of abstract patterns, color and texture. Her most recent body of work combines her love of faces with the creativity of collage.

Alleyne’s work can be found in a myriad of private art collections both in the United States and abroad, and has been seen in numerous exhibitions. She currently lives and works in Union, New Jersey.
